Sanjay Gandhi National Park is one of the major national park within a metropolis limit. While it may not be as large or exotic as some of the other national parks in India, its accessibility makes it very appealing for both residents and tourists with more than 2 million tourist footfall every year. Besides being rich in biodiversity it also houses one of the oldest (2400 year old) Kanheri caves famously known to be a Buddhist learing center and pilgrimage site.
