In today’s time mobile phones have become a personal necessity for every individual for their day to day life, starting from a very young age. The mobile phones on one hand have created a totally different perspective towards the world and as on the other hand it has brought in a lot of discrepancies which have impacted the society and the people starting from youth till aged. These harmful effects need to be addressed immediately and the world a better place for our future generations.

Sony BBC Earth in association with NBTRMC has brought a specially curated workshop on Harmful Effects of a Mobile phone which would talk about countering various problems our society faces today for using advanced technology like mobile devices, internet etc.

The workshop is going to be conducted by Dr Yatan Pal Singh Balhara, who is currently serving as Associate Professor of Psychiatry at National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre-NDDTC (a WHO Collaborating Centre ), and Department of Psychiatry, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, India. He also serves as a consultant and technical expert for WHO, UNODC and The Colombo Plan.

Dr. Yatan is also one of the key persons at the Behavioral Addictions Clinic (BAC) at AIIMS, New Delhi that caters to persons with gaming disorder, internet addictions, excessive use of mobile devices etc. He is also engaged in clinical care delivery, research and public health initiatives in the field of behavioral addictions.
