The two-weekend workshop will make you relive the heritage and legacy of Indian classical music which have kept on evolving over the years. Come and join NBT RMC and Sarangi Cultural Academy to explore various musical instruments and vocal variations from the best experts.

About the Academy:

Sarangi Cultural Academy has been formed under the Guidance of Ustad Nasir Khan Sahab who is a renowned sarangi player. He is working as a sarangi teacher in New Delhi. He has also given many solo performances and has also worked as an accompanist. Presently, he is associated as one of the senior staff artists with the National Institute of Kathak Kendra in New Delhi for more than a decade. Hailing from the family of traditional musicians, Nasir Khan is the son of the renowned tabla player Ustad Yaseen Khan.

 

About the Expert: Mr. Nabeel Khan

Born in Delhi, he is a new young solo instrumentalist on the music scene. Blessed with a celebrated musician for a father, Nabeel began learning the Sarangi at an early age. At merely 7, he played Sarangi and performed on stage under the guidance of his grandfather Ustad Sabri Khan Sahab (of Rampur Moradabad Senia Gharana). Nabeel has released a couple of Bollywood cover versions which are available on his YT Channel. He has also performed in Norway, Denmark, Finland, Russia, and other countries and in India he has played in many different states with his uncle and in Delhi as well in youth festival, SaReGaMaPa, and in many festivals.

Vision & Objective of the Workshop:

  • Promoting the country’s heritage music.
  • Promote upcoming young artist who has learned under the traditional Guru Shisha parampara at  least for a period of 7 years
  • To aid the development of heritage art through Indian classical music and culture.
  • To organize programs and events related to Indian classical music traditions specially Sarangi.
  • To open a research center.
  • To provide a platform for performing these arts for talented but economically-constrained students.
  • To raise awareness generally about Indian classical music, art, and culture.
  • To promote and popularize Indian classical music traditions .
  • To provide the upcoming generations with access to traditional forms of knowledge in the field of art and culture.
  • To provide financial assistance to talented music students.
  • To organize Indian classical music events abroad.
